Awards season for Blue Apple!

The summer marks many things for us foodies; whether it be a tasty barbecue on a balmy summers evening or indulging in freshly picked strawberries and cream during Wimbledon, the warmer months are a treat for food lovers everywhere. This summer however, it also marks the beginning of a busy awards schedule for Blue Apple!

The award season began in July as our young chef manager Chris Howard-Kraft was shortlisted for the ACE (Association of Catering Excellence) Robyns awards, held at the spectacular ZSL London Zoo. The awards, which recognise young and up-and-coming talent in the contract catering industry were whittled down from hundreds of entrants to a shortlist of just 13 and whilst he was ultimately not to scoop the award, Chris, who manages one of our busy Suffolk sites, was delighted to have made the shortlist, tweeting ‘Thanks for everything guys. Much appreciated. #keepworkinghard #lovemyjob’.

Meanwhile, long-serving Blue Apple chef manager Endang Gonzalez¬†has made the four-person shortlist for the Caterer Magazine ‘Shine’ awards, highlighting influential and talented women across the catering industry, to be held in October. Endang’s richly deserved nomination in the Chef of the Year category is a great reward for her years of service and amazing creations as she delights her customers at her Bedfordshire site. We’re looking forward to attending this glitzy black-tie event in central London.

Talking of black tie, there’s another chance for Chris to take some silverware back to East Anglia, as we’re delighted to announce he has made the final three for the Chef Manager of the Year prize at the annual ‘Cateys’ awards, the showpiece and most prestigious event in the catering industry calendar. Already another well-deserved achievement; we’re all behind you Chris!

It’s always a great feeling to be recognised for your hard work and dedication and that’s exactly what’s been happening at Blue Apple as two of our talented chefs have been vying for top awards against chefs from across the catering and food service industry. Watch this space to see how they do!
