Winner, winner… awards dinner!

It was another fantastic evening at Hemel Hempstead’s Shendish Manor Hotel as Blue Apple arrived for our annual supplier fair and awards dinner, celebrating the best produce, innovative ideas and of course rewarding those who’ve gone the extra mile in 2017.

Starting the afternoon off, we were again delighted to invite a number of hand-picked artisan suppliers, fresh produce specialists and packaging manufacturers to exhibit their wares to the wider Blue Apple team. Some of the highlights on offer included a delicious beetroot falafel with a spicy jalapeno hummus, some beautiful burger buns including an unusual but tasty charcoal black variety, turmeric-filled healthy cold and hot drinks and a new twist on Mayonnaise; which had been infused with rapeseed oil. This part of the event is a valuable opportunity for our teams to mingle with our suppliers and discuss recipe ideas, upcoming food trends and gain presentation inspiration to use in their own sites. We were also pleased to see the return of ‘The Yammies’, our now annual Food Photograph of the year competition, in which images of great food and ideas uploaded to our internal social media site were pitted against each other and voted for by their peers. The winning ‘snapper’ would be revealed later in the evening…

It was then on to an evening of ‘Glitz and Glamour’ as Blue Apple teams from across the country reconvened for our fantastic awards dinner and presentation, presented by CEO Brian Allanson and David Belsey (Development Chef). The awards are an opportunity to recognise the unsung heroes of the business as well as rewarding those who have demonstrated passion and innovation in their roles.

For the first time, we were delighted to be joined by three of our main suppliers in sponsoring the 2017 awards and we would like to thank Bidfood, e-foods and Fresh Fayre for their support.
