We’re proud to announce that Blue Apple has become an official partner to the excellent Brain Tumour Charity.
Blue Apple have already supported the charity this year as we took part in the Big Bandana Bake back in March, our enthusiastic teams and customers raised over £2,500, and we also provided support to the charities 100 runners at the Virgin Money London Marathon, as one of our excellent Slough teams produced a selection of handmade flavoured protein balls to fuel the brave participants over the line.
In the UK, 29 people are diagnosed with a high grade (cancerous) or low grade (non-cancerous) brain tumour every day, and with over 130 different types of brain tumour recorded so far, treatment is complex, with no simple means to approach the tumour. The Brain Tumour Charity are leading the way in offering support and advice to newly diagnosed people and their families, as well as making valuable research into the causes and treatment of the condition.
Blue Apple’s Founding Director, Ruston Toms, like so many others has been effected closely by a brain tumour diagnosis after his son Jordan was diagnosed whilst completing his third year at University. Happily, Jordan’s tumour has been in remission for two years and he has turned the experience in to a positive one, founding the Resolute sports brand alongside his two brothers, which donates 20% of its profits to supporting young people with cancer.
Ruston was understandably delighted to make our partnership with the charity official, saying;
“The teams at Blue Apple really got behind the Big Bandana Bake earlier this year and really enjoyed getting involved. As the cause is so close to our hearts, the senior management wanted to see how we could extend our relationship. We are so pleased and proud to have become corporate partners so that we can raise more funds and awareness of this small but great charity.”
As part of our partnership, we’ll be continuing to support the charity through joining in their upcoming events, including the Windsor ‘Twilight Walk’ in October, and through our first charity football match in spring 2019. We’ll also be on hand to provide tasty refreshments to other fundraisers and events whenever we can!
Sarah Lindsell, The Brain Tumour Charity’s Chief Executive, said:
“We are delighted and grateful that Blue Apple have chosen us as their charity of the year.
“We rely on donations, fundraising, gifts in wills and corporate partners to help us in our mission to defeat brain tumours – the biggest cancer killer of children and under-40s in the UK.
“Our wonderful corporate partners like Blue Apple are helping us towards our goals of doubling survival within 10 years and halving the harm brain tumours have on quality of life.
“Blue Apple staff baked up a storm for our Big Bandana Bake during last year’s Brain Tumour Awareness Month (BTAM) in March, and we look forward to their support at October’s Twilight Walk in Windsor – protein balls optional!”
