…and the 2017 winner is Alex Lovell, our talented young chef from one of Blue Apple’s newest and highest-profile sites, based in Leamington Spa.
Alex faced stiff competition from some of Blue Apple’s finest and up-and-coming talent, but from a shortlist of ten top chefs after much deliberation it was decided that he would return to Warwickshire with the coveted ‘Chef of the Year‘ plate at our annual gala dinner and awards evening.
Making Alex’s win all the more impressive is that he and his restaurant are new to Blue Apple for 2017, however in a short space of time he has impressed his customers and management alike with innovative and tasty meals — always considering seasonal flavours, food trends and achieving a balanced menu. The customers absolutely love his food!
There was cause for double celebration on the evening for Alex as his unit, managed by James Pollard, also scooped our prestigious ‘Unit of the Year‘ award, crowning a remarkable first year as part of the Blue Apple bunch.
Operations manager Ed Cooke was pleased to see his new site recognised for their hard work, with particular praise for his chef;
‘Since joining Blue Apple in March, Alex has been instrumental with the food offer that has been created at his site. He is a great team player and brilliant right hand man to James Pollard, from delivering a spectacular canapé function to managing the site in his absence. Chef management is surely the next move on the ladder for Alex! ‘
Congratulations Alex, keep up the good work!
