Blue Apple has delivered its 2018/19 Sustainability and CSR Report, which highlights a wide range of initiatives across the business designed to reduce its environmental footprint and increase its positive social impact. Now in our 20th anniversary year, Blue Apple remains as committed to sustainable and responsible practises as ever before, driving down food waste, investing in employee wellbeing and ensuring its supply chain is as ethical as possible.
Within the past 12 months alone, the company has achieved a remarkable amount. For example, since April this year we have reduced food waste by 4% across the estate and have introduced our Green Apple Ambassador initiative, a team of staff from all levels of the business who are passionate about the environment and committed to achieving Blue Apple’s sustainability targets. The company has also recently been awarded an SRA Food Made Good accreditation for the second year running at one of our flagship sites in Wiltshire, and appointed an SRA Champion within the business to provide ongoing support for other sites currently going through the process.
In terms of staff wellbeing, this is an area of focus that has been given special attention. A business is nothing without its staff and to that end Blue Apple has introduced an Employee Assistance Programme to provide a range of wellbeing services. This gives all staff access to unbiased and impartial advice on both work and non-work related topics – including physical and mental health issues, or financial difficulties, for example.
